Perfectland

Do you feel like you live in Perfectland? Everyone around you putting pressure on you as a parent to make sure your child fits into what society calls "normal." Maybe your child cannot perform up to the "perfect" standard. Maybe they don't learn in a traditional setting. Maybe their reactions to life cannot be prescribed from a book. Maybe you are discouraged and you feel like a failure. Maybe you think you are alone. This sight is not for your child but for you dear friend. If I can offer any encouragement to your soul that you are not alone, then these efforts are not in vain. I believe that often times we walk down paths that are unknown to us and we, in turn, need to turn and look back at those coming down the path to let them know, there are others. How can we encourage one another by an unknown network? I don't have the answers, but I do have the desire. My little booklet, Perfectland, was born out of being alone through many years of parenting. By alone, I mean that even some close family and friends were clueless as to the extent of stress and mental fatique that I suffered. Many times I suffered silently because to speak up meant in my mind that I had failed. Society played the comparison game with me and I found myself within this game comparing my parenting skills and my children to others and neither ever measured up to society's standard. I'm still on the journey of parenting but have twenty years under my belt and feel so much better about me being the expert on my child and also I have learned that I am doing the best I can each day. I'm not going to be able to stop other's from criticizing me but I can stop how they affect me. So drop me a line via the guestbook and let me know how you feel. If there is more interest in networking together , then I will look into starting some type of support page where we all can post and participate. In the meanwhile, if you send me a message, I'll promise to respond and I'll commit you to prayer and count it an honor that we have somehow connected through these circumstances.
